In the 1940’ s, Mustafa Torlak, originally from Rize in the Black Sea region moved to İstanbul with his family. Upon arrival he expanded his business from building fishing and wooden boats to constructing steel vessels. Here he established his first shipyard along with his two brothers in the Golden Horn Bay where they built new vessels and worked in repairs.
